Finaeus in his address describes the map to the reader thus: "(...) gemina cordis humani formula in plano coextensam (...)", distinguishing the double cordiform projection from his earlier single cordiform world map of circa 1521. The southern continent inscribed 'Terra Australis recently discovered but not yet explored'. Finaeus' Nova et integra universi orbis descriptio was later reprinted and copied by Hermannus Venraed, Gerard Mercator, and Antonio Lafreri.
