Product Description
Landing in Darwin on 10 December 1919, Ross and Keith Smith claimed their prize of $835,000 in todays money, for being the first to fly from England to Australia in less than 30 days. After flying 15,000 kilometres, the engines of their Vicker Vimy broke down before they could make a victory flight to Sydney. When they finally landed at Mascot on 14 February 1920, people flocked onto the airfield to surround their plane.
