In this view from the corner of Pitt and Market streets looking south, we can see the Rosebery tram in the centre of the image. Surrounding the tram on all sides are shoppers, whose clothes provide a broad illustration of the casual fashions of the day. Cleland’s Silks and Milston’s Tableware shops on the eastern side of Pitt Street were clearly popular destinations at Christmas.
