Between 1950 and 1953 North Korea and South Korea fought to resolve the division of Korea into two zones of occupation at the end of the Second World War. The North was supported by China and the South by the United States and its allies, including Australia. The Third Battalion had been in almost continuous action since its arrival in Korea in September 1950.
