Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack (1893–1965) was an internee on the HMT Dunera and a founding member of the Bauhaus, and art master at Geelong Grammar School from 1942 to 1957. Hirschfeld-Mack was one the most well-known artists to arrive on the Dunera. During his internment Hirschfeld-Mack taught drawing classes in the camp university.
These watercolours and woodcut were created whilst interned in Hay, Orange and Tatura internment camps during the Second World War, or after his release.
