Product Description

In the 1920s, when Sydney’s Kings Cross was likened to Montmartre in Paris, Dulcie Deamer was crowned its first ‘Queen of Bohemia’. Some 30 years later the novelist, poet, journalist and actor was captured at her cluttered writing desk for People magazine. The photograph is full of compelling details like Deamer’s torn dress, her arm out of the right sleeve, her Capstan cigarettes and round glasses, and the string hanging from the chair’s back with scrunched up newspaper tied into a bow for her cat to play with.
