Product Description

Cecil Bostock, commercial artist and photographer, was also a founding member of the Sydney Camera Circle. In 1917, he published this timeless nude in his A Portfolio of Art Photographs. Max Dupain, who was apprenticed to Bostock, gave this analysis of his mentor: A self-taught man, Bostock was a strange creature. Underestimating his work in photography and overestimating it in business, he never seemed to achieve a state of happiness in his work ... Consequently his work is only known amongst the amateurs and professionals of his period and not as the influence it should be to present day students.
