Double Bay, Sydney

Product Description

Six months into his photographic assignment in the western regions, Merlin returned to Sydney for the latter half of 1873. The Sydney Morning Herald, 2 August 1873, noted that 'Mr Beaufoy Merlin has taken a considerable number of photographic views of Sydney for the first section of "Holtermann's Intercolonial Exposition".'
This view from South Street, looking across Bay Street to the Harbour, shows low-lying water either side of Bay Street.
