This beautiful vintage print of the Dennarque Estate at Mt Wilson was clearly intended for display, as we can see the lines to guide the framer next to the photographer Monte Luke’s signature. Luke was a member of the Sydney Camera Circle, which promoted an Australian style of pictorial photography, focused on the artistic aspects of the medium. This image displays many hallmarks of the style, with the leaves in the foreground and much of the picture out of focus to enhance the dreamy feel of a summer’s day. Only the tree trunk, and the seat and table remain in focus.
