Product Description

By the end of the twentieth century Abe Saffron was one of Sydney’s most prominent organised crime figures. In the 1940s he started selling black-market alcohol and by 1950, when this photo was taken, he was part owner of the Roosevelt, a notorious Kings Cross nightclub. In 1953, the club was closed after being declared a ‘disorderly house’ by the New South Wales Police Commissioner.
